Fiber Art Demonstrations

Event Description:
Malabar Farm Spinning and Weaving Guild members will be on site to share their talents as they demonstrate various fiber projects. Visitor’s may even be able to try their hand at a few of them! Some Fiber Art items will be for sale.

Old Fashioned Film Feature

It's movie night at Malabar Farm!
Snack on popcorn and sip hot chocolate in the Main Barn while watching Bromfield's books take life on the big-screen.

Fall Photo Workshop

Event Date & Time:
Sunday, October 22nd, 10am- 4pm

Event Description:
Photograph the splendor of fall at historic Malabar Farm State Park. Learn professional techniques while visiting Mt. Jeez, Rock City Cave, Junglebrook Trail and the famous Big House, former home to Pulitzer Prize winning author and conservationist, Louis Bromfield. Plus, enjoy photographing live farm animals! Sigma Pro Photographer David Fitzsimmons will share his favorite locations and techniques from his four decades of photographing Malabar. Practice landscape, macro and architectural photography and see demonstrations of the best equipment and software for making your images shine.

Art Inspired - Big House Tours


Event Dates & Times:
Sunday, October 22nd at 1pm
Saturday, October 28th at 3pm

Event Description:
Learn about the well-known and obscure artwork found throughout Louis Bromfield's Big House, with Malabar Farm Foundation members Thomas Bachelder and Fred Malone. These 1-hour tours will offer attendees a deeper look at the artwork that adorns the walls, those that have been stashed away for years and some that were event painted by Bromfield himself.

Vintage Memory Box

Event Description:
Join Malabar volunteer and local artist, Pat Edwards, as she teaches a hands-on method of transfer art using digital download nostalgic prints and vinyl graphics. This vintage Halloween postcard print will make a great addition to your seasonal decor. Choose from the following prints; Phrase 'Halloween Greetings' will fit on the print you choose.

A Tisket-a-Tasket We are Making a Basket

Event Dates & Times:
Thursday, October 26th at 10am-2pm

Event Description:
Learn the art of basket weaving from seasoned weaver, Sybil Burskey, and complete a flat reed Market basket (approximately 7”x14” with a handle). Accent colors will be available. Refreshments available for your enjoyment.

Participants are asked to bring a sack lunch; hot and cold drinks will be available.

Getting to Know You: Grandma Moses

Event Description:
Listen as Grandma Moses recounts stories of her life, community and how she became a renowned painter in the backdrop of the Big House, where two of her original pieces hang.
