Recently our community learned that Brigitte Coles, News Anchor at our local TV station:  WMFD has been faced with a tragedy.  After a bout with some other recent medical issues Brigitte has been diagnosed with Spindle Cell Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer.  She has a long road ahead, starting with radiation, surgery, and chemotherapy.

Back in the summer of 2015 when a friend of the writer of this article was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer Brigitte was the first to climb on board and offer her persona and position to help raise money for a man she never met before.   This single act is a testament to her character and is an example of how she strives to treat everyone in the community that she serves.

It’s important to include in the festivities why we celebrate and pass it on to our children. The richness of heritage and history must be valued and protected. It brings strength.

Each Saturday the Ohio Bird Sanctuary offers free "Nature Encounters".  Come enjoy a short presentation by one of the volunteers or staff starring one of the resident birds that have come to the sanctuary and could not be released back into the wild after rehabilitation.  

You will learn about the species, what they eat, how they hunt, how they live, and their typical activities in the wild.

MANSFIELD, OH:  Come to the Gorman Nature Center November 4th at 7:30PM  and learn some things about the moon and stars, explore the constellations and planets, and take home a free star chart while having all of your astronomical questions answered.

Participants should be able to see some really awesome constellations, gaze some planets, (like Jupiter, Saturn and Venus) and maybe even a few galaxies!  Telescopes and binoculars will be available for use, but please feel free to bring your own.
