MyMidOhio.com seeks to accent local papers.

If you write or work for a town paper and want to submit articles you've written, or summaries of articles you've written, AFTER your paper has published them your welcome to do that and link to the original article at the paper's website.

Most papers don't retain articles online past 30 days because they can't afford it and there's just too much information flowing. Some small town papers don't even have their articles online and really, some of those articles are worth keeping around as they shed positive light on our community.

MyMidOhio want's to work with the small town local papers in this way and accent them not work against them for the latest breaking news story.

It's our opinion that our communities NEED our local papers! We don't want them to go anywhere but we recognize they must make some changes to address the future of their industry if they want to stay successful. We hope we can help and you can help them too by supporting your local news paper!

I think the idea of a live chat is great, but it is a rally tough thing to moderate, and that takes a lot of time and work. I'd like to see such a thing up and running though.

Photo Gallery Questions

Josh wrote:

speaking of the photo gallery if I have pictures of things of around town do you want me to put them in my gallery or the site gallery because it asks me if I want to upload there?

The site gallerys may be uploaded to by users provided the photograph meets the requirements for that gallery. If we find it does not we will delete it or move it back to your personal gallery for you to decide how to handle. If it gets deleted your always welcome to reupload it to your personal gallery provided it does not violate our AUP (Acceptable Use Policy) or TOS (Terms of Service)... which is basically made up of common sense. No adult material please.

We will grow the gallery categories as the need arises and are open to any category suggestions. The problem is we don't want to become photograph judges and so for that reason the site galleries will be limited in quanity and types.

Josh wrote:

and does public domain photos mean I am free to use them for whatever I want?

Yes - the Public Domain photographs are just that - in the public domain. We will further clarify the license in the gallery but they are commercially useable public domain photographs. No Restrictions/No Royalties. Currently the photos in that gallery were taken by the department of agriculture. I have others from other sources that will be added later.

At this time this gallery is open for public uploads but unless we are able to verify their status or confirm the uploader is the photographer and has the authority to put the work in the public domain then they will most likely be deleted.
